Step 1: Click on the desktop icon or the Finder icon in the dock to ensure you’re in the Finder. Here are a few reasons why AirDrop isn’t working for you. To use Bluetooth, a person must be connected to both devices and be physically close to it. Using AirDrop, you can share files securely and quickly across Bluetooth. The person who should discover your Mac can be found at the bottom of the window. Most of the time, you can change it by going to the Control Center and selecting it as a switch. Click Accept to save the file, or Decline if you don’t want it. When someone tries to share a file with you, you’ll see a notification asking if you want to accept it. To receive files using AirDrop, simply open the AirDrop window and wait for other Macs to appear. The file will be automatically transferred to their Mac. Select the person you want to share the file with, then click Send. A dialog will appear asking you to choose who you want to share the file with. To share a file with another Mac, simply drag the file to the AirDrop icon in the sidebar. If you don’t see AirDrop in the sidebar, you can add it by selecting Finder > Preferences from the menu bar, then checking the box next to AirDrop in the Sidebar tab. Make sure AirDrop is turned on by opening the Finder and selecting AirDrop from the sidebar. If you’re using a Mac running OS X Yosemite or later, you can use AirDrop to quickly and easily share files with other Macs nearby.
